Campus notes from Hyderabad

February 13th, 2008

The Entrepreneurship Cell of MJCET, Hyderabad organized an entrepreneurship week recently. Anand and Anshuman from the Tolmolbol team were there to share their insights and experiences with the students. From the blog post covering this event on the NEN website:

The event was a revelation, presented a different perspective for many in the audiance. The plain facts, the truths, the reality was very different from what is usually imagined and had a lasting impression on the people.

Campus notes from Goa

January 21st, 2008

Epsilon is the fifth alphabet of the Greek script. In mathematical terms, it is also used to describe an arbitrary quantity. It has other meanings in economics, physics and chemistry. But in the context of college entrepreneurial fests, it lends its name to the intra-BITS, Pilani business plan competition - the recent edition of which concluded yesterday at the BITS Goa campus.

Out of over 150 business plans submitted by various teams to the organizing committee, 6 groups were shortlisted to present their ideas to a jury comprising of entrepreneurs, academics from the management stream and venture capitalists. As alumni of BITS Pilani and as people who have been through the startup grind, we were invited to both share our experiences with the students as well as help/mentor the finalists. For over two days, we had the fun of interacting with bright minds in the most beautiful college campus we’ve ever seen. Above all, it was heartening to witness and experience first-hand the thriving entrepreneurial buzz inside of a college.

Here are some of the snaps we took during the visit to our alma mater’s Goan sister.

Web 2.0 - Angels & Demons

January 16th, 2008

Looks like this is the season to be either on the cover of magazines or be a part of the cover story. Our beloved college magazine has just come up with their 2008 edition. The cover story features an indepth study of web 2.0 companies.

Here’s a quotable quote from Anand:

“Web 2.0 signifies user interaction. The emphasis in Web 2.0 is on the community. It is about providing the user with a system with which she interacts along with other users to create content.”

Bol India Bol

November 28th, 2007

Announcing India Bol, a new feature that you cannot have missed on the homepage. When posting a question, you can specify whether or not your question is “local”. An example of a local question could be, “Where do I find a [insert a noun here] in [insert your city name here]?”.

A non-local question is something that anyone, anywhere can express an opinion on. Especially on pressing national matters such as choosing between Shah Rukh Khan’s six-pack or Ranbir’s derriere; or even between Deepika and Sonam. India Bol is also for those among you who like timepass conversations such as what we, Indians, should be doing about our culture! Whatever be your reason, you can now readily participate in a conversation with members from all across India.

As the tagline of a popular television ad goes, Bol India Bol.

A candid conversation with Los Creador

November 5th, 2007

Los Creador is a very interesting website that profiles internet companies and the people behind them. Some time ago, we had the pleasure of speaking to them about Tolmolbol. LC has the tagline “Inspiration from Information”. We hope the interview was informative at the very least.
