Friends, As we crawl on the aftermath of 25/8 - Hyderabad, what keeps coming back to my thoughts are the most vulnerable places in our city where you and me would likely to be on a weekend or during business days. I am sure our administration must as well be aware of such places. What are these places and what can be done at a minimum that can help prevent to some extent such cowardly acts? To my mind: 1. Shopping malls - Hyderabad Central, Big Bazaar,City centre type of malls 2. Food courts - may be one's like Ohris 3. Theatres - thankfully they have been asked to shut before they install some security measures. 4. Hi-tech city - IT company campuses - they would be more safer than the others in the list - as there is some minimum security protocol followed. 5. Public parks - like NTR gardens
at a minimum - there has to be certian security measures directed and must have for all these places / businesses and they must be certified by the administration. That for me would be a start. From there on we can build on the security mesaures step by step and roll them out.

I completely agree with anand.
Security measures should be imparted at all the places which attracts crowd. Security systems like Metal detectors (which are already present at many places but at some places i found them inactive), CCTV surveilliance etc should be used at large extent even at small theatres and public parks.
To add to the list of attack prone places: - Birla temple, - Chilkur temple, - Eat Street (Necklace road, attracts heavy crowd during weekends), - Snow World - Bawarchi restaurent (Always crowded)

Any public place which attracts crowd is sensitive. Check out Gokul Chat. It was not one of the biggest places. But there is lot of crowd there. Even Bus Stands and Railway Stations, for that matter all the public transport systems are also sensitive. I could think of the below things
1. There should be minimum security checks at all places. 2. Public Places like theatres, temples, parks, etc should not allow luggage. Or atleast screening should be done for such things. I am sure we could do it this safe way (might seem a bit expensive at first) rather than give 5L compensation after the mishap. 3. CC TV surveillance should be extended to all public places so that anything different could be observed. 4. A call centre could be setup for people to report suspicious behaviour, unidentified objects. 5. Campaigns should be run across the country spreading the awareness about what has to be done when we notice unidentified objects, suspicious behaviour of people, people spying a place too many times, etc. 6. Technology should be used more as precautionary and preventive measures. 7. We should start having a unique way of identifying everyone in the country. PAN number might not serve this purpose as many people do not have it. Voter ID also might not serve. We should come up with something.

Going away from the question and analysing the basic reason why any place in India at large is vulnerable to terror attacks reveals a grim picture in itself.
Few basic problems why India is a soft target is mainly to do with the policing strategy and administrative inertia. Policing strategy in India is barebones, reactionary and defensive. Preemptory operations are ad-hoc and largely ineffective.
Administrative inertia is stuff of the legends. Huge acts are voted in but even a basic framework of counter-terrorism is not put into place. Only Mumbai has shown some efficiency in creating a semblance of an intelligence network. The post-mortem of each and every terror strike is eerily similar. Count the causalities, declare how the bomb was assembled and type of fuse used, blame ISI, pick a mastermind at random, if possible release a sketch, say we will not rest until justice is delivered and then wait for the fickle public memory to fade away.
The only point I may not be able to blame security agency for is profiling of possible terror elements. This is a genuine problem. In west even though they lay tall claims like "Enemy Within" their so called enemy is usually foreign and the profile of such enemy is very unique and distinguishable. In India the problem is similar to UK's problem with IRA, the terrorist do not have a largely distinguishable front.
The first step would be to stop being fickle. There is glory in being resilient and in living life normally do after such an event. And it is to Indians that we do not let anything derail us. However, not heeding to numerous attacks right in the heart of our country is being foolhardy.
Bring the carriers of these attacks to justice and then make the mastermind face the law. Mere talk, never ending investigation, and lengthy court cases is not the right signal we beam. We have to stop our knee jerk reaction and we have to stop acting like a soft target.

| On the question as such the most vulnerable place is railway stations. For a service that carries millions, surveilance strategies/equipments are from stoneage.

| Terrorism is something which is disturbing the whole world and country like India which is the second largest populated country in the world is under a big black cloud of terrorism....security measures like CCTV,security guards, metal detector, etc should increase in order to fight against such activities...but on the other hand crowded places like markets, bus stops, railway stations, etc dont have such measures..like the Gokul Chat Shop. The Indian Govt should look into the matter and do something because the condition is going worst day by day.People are dying everyday due to such activities,it seems that we human being have lost the precious value of our life.Things should be taken care of before it goes more worst..............

| i too agree with all, and even places like ameerpet where thousands of students move around, places like mitrivanam to satyam theater its full of students, where there is no minimum security is a place to take care off

| In my opinion in a few days we are going to celebrate the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. At that time the Whole Hyderabad's people will gather to see the Khairatabad's big idol of Ganesh and one more thing is that on the day of Ganesh idols immersion we should take care because if any incident happened like in Gokul chart or Lumbini park at this time complete Hyderabad's people has to sacrifice atleast a person per house .
