I am planning to get an internet connection at my home in Ameerpet (Maithrivanam). I have checked with Airtel and they don’t have service in Maithrivanam area! It looks like BSNL is the only option. Could someone share their thoughts about the best options out there in Ameerpet.
Also, I am planning to go for WiFi. The modems offered by BSNL are not brand named ones, but they are cheap (Rs. 1800 for WiFi modem)! What are the best WiFi modems available? Also let me know how much do they cost (roughly)?
I am expecting to use the internet with high volume of data transfer. Let me know if any of you have any inputs regarding which service provider to choose and what plan. Thanks for your time folks!

I am using BSNL 900 home plus plan which gives 256 kbps and unlimited data. This is quite good and comes along with modem if you commit for 3 months or above. Service is also decent.
Wi-fi modem of BSNL takes time and is not that great. Go for netgear wi-fi router which costs about 2.2k. This Netgear router is good. I have been using it for over an year and its quite good and easy to configure.

| I have used Beam cable earlier. I am not sure about how Airtel, Hathway and reliance are. This BSNL 900 Home plus has been very comfortable to me.

Thanks ra Pavan and thanks to you Vicky for the inputs.
Pavan - Is CTC the best place to get the WiFi modem? Any retailer that you may want to suggest who has some good deals on branded (NetGear or Linksys) WiFi modems?
Vicky - What is the brand of the BSNL WiFi modem? Is it working well? How long have you been using it?

You can get WiFi modem anywhere. There are quite a few shops near the place you live, Maithrivanam. There is a couple of hundreds difference between Netgear and Linksys. But I found netgear to be good at ease of configuring. It is simple and anyone can do it.
I had initially applied for BSNL wi-fi modem. There are a few problems with that
1. BSNL does not have wi-fi modems readily available and it delays your connection. 2. BSNL wi-fi models have some problem. Mine did not work and had to then get it changed to normal modem. 3. Netgear is good and easy to use.
