For some time now I have had this feeling that INDIA TV is just seeking cheap publicity throwing the accepted norms of good news coverage for cheap gimmicks in Breaking News......which goes on breaking people's peace for a couple of hours atleast.First it was the hounding of Khali-the only Indian WWF wrestler just for the reason that he gave an exclusive interview for Star News which didn't go down well with Rajat Sharma's India TV so they went on to lambast Khali and the game.Yesterday they went on beaming " HOw Emraan HAshmi got smooched by the Cheer Girls" at the Jaipur grounds and alleging that all eyes were on them and not the game.Actually during the time India TV went on beaiming this scene in breaking news from 9.00p.m. till 10.30 p.m. the match was proceeding at an interesting pace on Sony TV and I'm sure it was also on in the ground. This same channel made character assasination of Shilpa Shetty in Gere episode.
Now the question is how to rein such Channels who poison the minds of common public through only negative publicity...

Good topic Stephen! I'm also experiencing the "Breaking News" syndrome from CNN-IBN channel and the Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai starts speaking at the top of his voice as if all hell's broke on the breaking news and this gentleman gets "Padmashri" award. Wah Bhai Wah. There cannot be another example of the declining standards of media functioning in India. The "Breaking News" panel gets repeated for hours together as if that's the only thing happening. One more thing, each channel vies with each other in sensationalising the news so much so we are tempted to tune in our good old friend DD News to get the truth. Atleast DD news will thrive this way until they also decide to join the bandwagon of "News sensationalising" channels.
