Personally, I would think that Religious Leaders Influenced the Course of Humanity....
Religion is such a topic where no person can be incorrect. The Extent at which you can comment on religion is dependent primarily on your views and its impact on society.Right from the time of Jesus Christ, Everything came out of that.. Kings, Emperors in Rome were the protectors of the Church first and then became lawkeepers. Poets and Filmakers never sought to change the course of how mankind functions. They thought of explaining or even pleasing the present, past & the future or atleast showing us an elevated state of mind that we could (in our dreams) perceive to achieve. Scientists, Economists and Biologists made us see things that were already around us...
Religious Leaders are the ones who we cannot defect, We cannot Deny.. Because the element of uncertainity cannot be neglected in their statements.. Nevertheless, by saying something like 'Maybe your wrong' would either term you racially intolerant or it would make you a atheist...

A great question after long period...
Well, in my opinion theres not a single group of persons who influenced mankind. Since Religious leaders, Business leaders, political leaders, Artists, Scientists have their particular way of putting things across the mankind.. A view will change if you change your thinking from Scientific perspective to philosophical perspective..
Each of these groups have played a vital role in moulding the mankind.. Nowadays we would find that the film makers among the Artists are influencing people by producing versatile kind of movies..

Yup, any question that can invite people to think is definitely interesting :)
Based on a half-baked world view and my understanding of history, here are my rankings:
1. Religious leaders (rightly or wrongly, they have had a longstanding impact)
2. Political leaders (again, irregardless of the means used to get power, they wield a lot of influence)
3. Scientists (they are the people who have cured diseases, sent people to the moon, increased productivity and made life liveable)
4. Business leaders (They, along with the political leaders, are the new monarchs)
5. Artists (although good 'art' can stand the test of time, they solve a need that is not physiological; rather they are cerebral or in some cases material)

| In my opinion each group has its spheres of influence on the mankind. Just as we cannot do without the MD/CEO and the chaprsi in the office so do each of these groups complement in influencing the mankind rightly or wrongly. Every single group is importantg in its own way.

Who were Akbar, Aibak and Iltutmish? Julius Caesar and Alexander - who were these guys? None of these people would have been known if there were to be no historians. They are the ones who changed the course of history many a times by their interpretation of events.
The second most influential creed would be scientists. Scientists have always been the rebellious kind, breaking away from norms, trying to change the socio-religious order all the time.

i think religious leaders have influenced mankind alot....to begin with they were the ones who introduced sprituality n philosophy to men.....they introduced the concept of "GOD" to men....they in a way outlined the way of life a man is supposed to lead.....they were the first teachers to kings n emperors.....they were the ancient scientists (they researched on "science of sprituality".)....they started revolutions......they encouraged free thinking.....but sadly in later stages of history they submitted themselves to lust, greed n power.....n then they started undoing all those things which they had done earlier.....they forgot their own teachings....
but what ever said n done.....they were the most popular leaders of masses.......n till date they are.

I say this is a bloody FUNNY question! Each and EVERY one of these kinds of people have had their share of influence on mankind... you cant prioritise..
i Mean Why, as a tiny example, do you think India/China with its millions is a fast growing economy today? Business people? and on the same lines... why the world?
Its only because of great artists of their own era, that we have the taj mahal, the mona lisa painting, Renaissance science, Modern day advertising, TV, and other Media stuff... isnt it?
without scientists doing their stuff, youd probably have contracted MALARIA from some lucky musquito by now and died, and definitely not be able to post here.. cos "here" wouldnt exist either! the WWW has definitely changed the way we interact...
Coming to religious leaders .... well, there are those who truly have a positive impact, and then there are people chanting Jehad because someone whacked em silly. and shitty wars start off..
Of course politicaians are really influential, They dont need catastrophies to blunder away... especially here in india.
Personally, if there is any one person who's had a huge impact... its everybody.

when u think outside that boundary " what man/women is -- how he thinks, react to each sitution is built with his character(moral being) that is majorly influenced by Religious Leaders ( philosophers, spiritual leaders etc) and Parents(include sourding influences).
Above Religious Leaders & Parents get to influence the being/person from childhood before any other gets involve with him, some books/intelltuals say that is what made the difference for the person being a kenaddy(P.M of U.s) / His assasin(person killed kenndey) .

| Prasad the seed you planted 10 months ago is now bearing fruits....I'll take the last option..Others.I'm still a little confused whether humans are influenced by their ancestor's monkeys...or vice-versa coz we humans have a habit of poking into things which doesn't concern.If you take leaders...they poke their followers ( be it Religious,Political or Corporate Leader) they all want attention...scientists too poke into matters and at times reap rich rewards for Inventions..which most times comes accidentally....we're all on this planet to play golf...there are holes,balls and golf stick....we also have among this bloggers some screw-balls....I need not say more coz the screw ball is sure to reply after me...
