went trekking up to lohagad fort with some friends. came back footsore, tired, hungry, thirsty, soaked (got wet in the rain) and miserable. it was briilliantt! just the thing to do on a weekend.
how to: find a bloke who loves to drive. hop into his toyota land cruiser (i can dream, can't i?) with a bunch buddies (v imp!!), go thru' lonavla to malavi station. from malavi station just ask anyone the way to lohagad base camp. you can park your car/suv/tractor there, wave at the villagers that have gathered to gawp. and start your climb.
make sure you have plenty of water. some food would be good, coz we were starved by the time we got up there.
the climb's great, and not too tough if you are reasonably fit. at the summit - rather a grand word for the hilltop, eh ;) - you're rewarded with the most the gorgeous views of hills and dales. mmmm. loverly!
back at the village don't forget to stop for a cuppa chai. i swear it was the best, definitely the most welcome chai i have ever had!!
ps: lohagad is one of shivaji's forts

We..ll, I've never done paragliding, but there's group that offers it here here in bangalore, at nandi hills. White water rafting you can do just about anywhere there are decent rapids. you'll have to check time of year, to ensure you don't get swept away - literally.
I've done some rafting on the Kali river in nepal. It's awesome. We were in Leh about a month back, you can river raft there as well, on the Zanskar. We couldn't coz we were there too early, waters weren't rapid enough. Rishikesh is one of the best places to go. i think you can do a spot of paragliding there as well. There are umpteen no. of groups who organise weekend trips for white water rafting from Delhi. best time is around feb-march, and then sep-oct. Oh and the Teesta river is great too, that's near Sikkim.
Have fun!!

I'm not too much for planning. So I'd just go to Leh or Rishikesh or wherever. There are normally 100's of tour operators who are dying to take you where u wanna go. sign on for a 2 day trip. It works out cheaper dat way n you get to meet some interesting people.
A lotta tourists tend to put up notices on the shop windows of tour operators & cafes hoping to find people to join them n cut costs. In Nepal I remember I cud only afford half de 4-day trip, so dat's wot I did. They put me down in de middle of nowhere, and I hitched a ride back to town.
So if you wanna be truly adventurous dat's de way to go!
