Good old fashioned cinema hall...
If you are looking out to watch a movie and your budget is not ahem..helping,this cinema hall is not a bad bet.It is situated in the middle of the Sector 22 market also known as the "rehri market" of Chandigarh. It does not have anyy frills(read:AC,Digital sound or those fancy seats like the multiplexes) but what it does have is the best range of movies.Undoubetdly this is one of the few cinema halls across chandigarh that play English,Hindi and Punjabi movies..Though the ambience is a little depressing and not up with the times,it does remind you of the movie halls that your parents might have talked to you about..the projector hissing in the background and the lights just as the movie starts not the gradual dimming and the fancy works like the recent Xenon moviehalls..but renovations are underway so lets hope that this hall does not remain far behind. As far as the cost of the tickets goes, its a modest 45 rupees for the balcony but the upper stalls are much more fun according to the college going kids..after all whats a dance without hooting and a serious scene without the kids creating spoofs out of them? The mid-movie snax dont have much variety but as I wrote earlier,it needs to catch up with times but till then it is still runs full house shows and reamins a favorite for the middle class n college goers..
