Karaikudi, as the name suggests is a typically Chettinad restaurant on North Boag Road. The interiors are tastefully done up with ornamental lighting and dark paneled wood. The seating is a mix of couches and chairs depending on your preference. You are ushered into the beautiful ambience by the friendly and ever smiling Chinese door man in a perfect outfit complete with a cap! The waiters are decked in traditional garb (dhotis) but the head waiters are in the usual uniform. Coming to the food part of it, this restaurant is very famous for its spicy food. The non vegetarian dishes are quite famous here. There are a range of briyani’s to choose from and myriad curries ranging from fish to meat. There is not much in terms of dessert but then, no one’s complaining! The food is simply great with generous portion sizes. The price is just right and you can have a hearty meal for a reasonable amount. With a great combination of great taste, awesome ambience and economic prices, Karaikudi is heaven for all those who love Chettinad cuisine.
