A movie about women and their children! Thats what stepmom at the best deals with and wow how beautifully? Susan Sarandon an amazing actor, pulls off an excellent portrayal of the strong yet sensitive single mother. The story revolves around the lives of Jackie (Sarandon), Luke (Ed Harris) - the ex husbad and father of her 2 children, Anna and Ben - the kids! And finally Isabel (Julia Roberts) - the other woman!
Susan Sarandan is terminally ill, and the way she breaks it to her family - especially the daughter - it leaves one with tears! And the way she comes to terms with the stepmother of her children, a wonderful Julia Roberts, in a breezy role that warms us! The way Roberts bonds with the children, and Sarandon's initial reactions and the gestures from the former's end such as the quilt and the photo cut outs just show, that relationships no matter how complicated can be worked out! We are humans after all! Chris Columbus more than kudos for this movie!
