Based on a book by Amy Tan, a touching story of four Chinese women who are bound together by hope rather than joy or luck. These four women narrate the stories of their life, unravel the dark, deep phases of their life, fought against all odds and succeeded only to ensure a better life for their daughters.
These four women and their contemporaries have settled down in America. Their past life had been traumatic and each of them being a victim of circumstances in their own little worlds. They had spent the early and tender years of their life in distress, compromised what was close to their heart for the sake of love that was never meant to be for them, experiences excruciating humility and scorn of those stronger than them, yet they fought bravely with resilience, challenged the norms of Chinese society, questioned the dogmas, broke free of the shackles that bound them and created a new life for themselves and their daughters.
The tale also discusses the mother-daughter relationship. These women have learnt their lessons the hard way and are insistent on providing a better and secure life for their daughter. A life that will be filled with love, too much love.. where everyone would understand the worth of women.
It’s one of the best movies I have ever watched and loved every bit of it. Its something that can never never be missed!
