Dhoom 1 was one flick which pulled Bollywood out of the stagnation it was facing. It was like a breath of fresh air amidst movies with themes as old as the Himalayas.
Kabir (John Abraham) heads a gang of thieves who plan each of their robberies meticulously. They rob affluent establishments and zoom away on their bikes. ACP Jai Dixit (Abishek Bachchan) is chosen to nab the biker-thieves and assisted by the bike mechanic and racer Ali (Uday Chopra), they kick start a cat and mouse game between the cops and the thieves with some cool bike races and hardcore action thrown in.
Dhoom 1 was simply superb as it had a strong storyline though John Abraham fans would be devastated at the ending. None the less, John Abraham sizzles in this flick with his chiselled body and his arrogant i-care-a-damn attitude. Abishek Bachchan plays the sensible cop who doesn’t know how to smile and Uday Chopra’s comedy acts as a strain reliever amidst the heavy action leaving the audience in splits.
The songs are peppy and you can’t help but hum them. The bike racing scenes are shot simply awesomely. Dhoom 1 is one flick which can be truly classified as ‘racy entertainment’.
