| Happy times - watching Happy Days |
 |
 |
 |
Happy days for most of us are college days. All those who have been to college sometime in their life will identify with some character in the movie. There have been movies which have used college backdrop. But a very few of them about college and the college life. The movie 'Happy days' fills that void.
Its a story of 4 guys and girls and their journey in life from first year, ragging period to farewell party and passing out of college. Shekar has worked on each of the characters so well that the entire college crowd is identifying themselves with the characters. You see all the characters in almost every college. A fundoo tyson, smart chandu, paidithalli from rural background, motu senior, shriya maam, everyone.
The movie presents various phases so true to life that you hardly feel that something is not real. While the movie progresses from ragging days to freshers welcome to becoming seniors to placements to farewell party, you are taken back in time to your college days with your friends. Even after the movie is completed and people come out, you would remain in your college days. It takes a few days to come back to the present day. All the time while watching the movie, one looks at the watch and hopes that the movie goes on for some more time or maybe it doesnt end.
When one chooses topics like ragging, friendship, it is easy to just go overboard and go on preaching about it. Shekar has taken a very controlled approach without having to lecture about good and bad of ragging.
The casting of the movie is near perfect, especially tyson, shravs, paidithalli. The camaraderie between the lead characters is just wonderful. At times songs interrupt the flow. But here they take the story forward. The dialogues, the scenes are superb and will make many nostalgic.
Prakash Raj took the tamil rights for Happy Days without even watching the movie. People laughed at him initially and now he is having the last laugh.
I have seen people asking "How many times did you watch Happy Days?" instead of "Did you watch Happy Days?". What more can you say about this movie? A very well made made movie which leaves a smile on your face for days to come. You are missing something if you have not watched it already.
