Rasoee - Veg Kitchen - a true home made rasoi experience!
On a recent visit to Mumbai, we craved for Gujarati food and kichdi. Since we were staying at Juhu, we could not travel all the way to Status in town which i know from previous experience, serves the best Gujarati thali in Mumbai! So we asked a few people and came up with 3 places in around Juhu - The class, Rasraj and Rasoee. The class was close to where we stayed, but my friend did not want to go to a place that served drinks as well, Rasraj, as we found out served great north Indian food but no Gujarati thali, and so we went on to Rasoee, close to the vile parle east station and opposite to the Shiv sagar restaurant there.
The place has 2 floors, with the ground floor serving a la carte north Indian food and the first floor which serves only the Gujarati thali. We were treated most cordially and were served some of the best Gujarati food i have had in recent times. Right from the starting with chaas and farsan to 3 different vegetables, kadhi and dal, pickles, chutney, papad, sweet dish and soft roti's with generous helping of ghee, and finishing with rice and kichdi! Everything is unlimited, eat your heart's fill - as your stomach would anyways be filled very fast and you will end up over eating how much ever diet conscious you may be!
Rasoee's service is just too good. The folks at the restaurant urge you to eat till you would want to end up yelling at one of them that enough is enough! Well almost!
The extent of service is showcased with the waiter serving warm water from a jug and carrying it around with a bowl and you can wash your hands into the bowl!
We had a great time and have a favourite to go back to next time in Mumbai!
