The great South Indian thali!
Spicy Venue used to be one of our regular haunts as it was close to both our office and my home. Its been little over 2 years since we have moved out of Jubilee Hills and since I have hardly been there again twice and not once in the last year or so.
Yesterday, I got chance to go back to Spicy Venue for lunch. It was a notalgic and delicious experience.
As earlier there was a queue of waiting people for their turns. The only difference is that they had only one section earlier, the main room. Now they have three sections, the Main section, a secondary section and the first floor which earlier hosted buffets and parties.
The other thing I noticed was that the prices have shot up. Earlier a thali (the main selling point) was 65 bucks, now its gone up to 95. A 30 bucks increase in an year, and its still selling like hot samosas. That in itself should tell you about the quality of the Thali. Its absolutely best preparation of South Indian dishes. Except Curd everything else on thali is unlimited, so have your fill.
Apart from thali, Natu Kodi Pulusu (Chicken Curry) and Natu Kodi Iguru (Chicken Fry) are their other Andhra specialities. I always go for one of these.
The restaurant is well lighted and the ambience is comfortable but nothing more. The decor is mainly comprised of ethinic handicrafts which goes with their local cullinary speciality.
The prices as I mentioned have gone up. However, this is more due to the fact that the restaurant had originally been lowly priced for the kind of food they serve. Now its at par with the other restaurants like Tabla etc.
Its only a food joint - NO DRINKS.
This restaurant comes highly recommended if you are looking for enjoying local Andhra delicacies.
