Great evening dented by very poor service.
Another experience that started amazingly and ended up being a disaster.
This was my first time at 10 Downing Street (TDS) and I was wow-ed the moment I stepped inside the doors. TDS has a great ambience. The seating is also very comfortable. The one star docked on the ambience is for the neon or whatever lights they have lining the walls. They are a bit disconcerting as they keep turning them on and off with the music.
The music set the mood for the evening, with 90s number playing back to back. I was in a trance singing to all those songs that we knew word for word back in school. Hell, even Apache Indian's "Chok There" was thrown into the mix to drive in the point. And with my favourite "Gimme Hope, Joanna" playing on the boom box, I knew I was in on the right day.
The food is great and for drinks I neither tried any imported variety nor cocktails, so it was usual stuff. Though beer seems pretty expensive with a pint for 160 bucks. Pitcher (5 pints) was 450 bucks which was definitely a better option. The usual white rum and vodka's cost 220 bucks for a large.
But as they say - the last straw broke the camels back. By the time we were finishing off our last orders it probably had become pretty late, we had the floor captain coming to our table and handing out plastic cups, signaling us to fill up our drinks into it and move out. They persisted even after us asking for a couple of minutes and the fact that the whole place was full and none of the other tables were being asked to be vacated was which made me furious. It was really very annoying to be told to move out on a double after going through probably the lousiest service I have ever experienced.
The experience ended up being disappointing. It would be sometime before I go back to TDS. With the level of pathetic service they provide here, service at Bottles & Chimney seems a treat.
Go here to enjoy the music, but do not expect anything great of the service.
