Anshuman
A decent weekend hangout.
Cocos Bar and Grill forms the part of the Shikaar trident, namely; TexMex - Mexican Restaurant, Sundowner - The Pub and ofcourse Cocs- Bar and grill. All the three are housed in the same building and Cocos is the open terrace restaurant.
The place itself is divided into two parts - couples and others. Do I need to mention that couples get the better half?
There was no waiting for tables during weekend, which is a good thing because we were contemplating going to 36 Jubilee or Twister. Had we been asked to wait we probably would have moved on.
The ambience of the restaurant is pretty decent, but the place is right next to the road linking TDP office with Jubilee Hills checkpost, so there is a lot of irrtant in the form of traffic noises. Though after a few minutes you get used to it. They also have a grill with chef's practising their profession right out there in public view, which adds to the overall feel.
The customer service is also decent. Orders are taken promptly and you do not have to wait too long for them to serve it up. Though we had a Haig whisky (recently launched) marketeer in the restaurant trying to pomote their brand at the tables. I found this a bit odd as I don't expect restaurants allowing that, unless the product they might be promoting is on the house.
We had Chilli Cheese Toast for starters, which was good but the quantity should definitely have been more for the 100 bucks price tag it carried. Our main course choice was Palak Paneer and Kulcha, which was pretty delicious, specially Palak Paneer was delectable. Drinks found here are the regular lot. And for the patrons, there is also mint hookah to be tried.
The prices are comparable with most of the restaurant of its class (the middle income). A beer here will cost you 125 bucks.
All in all, the place is a decent eat out and I would recommend it for a change from normal - for its value for money, food and overall ambience.
P.S. - I would not recommend it for summers as we found it hot and were sweating between refills.
