Coffee all the way. Costa Coffee is what I'd describe as a cozy place gone popular. Really. As soon as you walk in, you'll see. It was meant to be a cozy place but word spread (not against their wishes) and now its flooded. The ambience - hmmm, a tad noisy for my taste, but temperatures are very well controlled, the lighting, though yellow, is soft , and there IS a separation from the outside (Though I'm not so sure you'll be isolated from the inside itsef). A direct consequence of the populace inside is the lack of table space. There were nine of us at a small round table, but I suppose that's okay because you need to sit close to hear each other (this was at about 3 in the noon. I shudder to think what might happen after work hours) Hardwood floors and framed coffee posters dominate. Upstairs is a more casual setting that seems to prescribe to a lounge style - there's a Central Perk-y couch that seats quite a lot of people, in addition to the regular tables. Also there is the unisex bathroom, that was a bit too dingy for my liking. So once you're settled at your table, you need to get up again to the cashier counter to see what you'd like to have (they probably want you to work up your appetite so you wont have just the coffee) There's the choice between sandwiches, rolls and other snack -bites, muffins that look delicious, other croissants/scone type food as well as the ultimate in chocolate through their range of cakes and mounds (not moulds, mounds. Of chocolate, because that's what it looked like) Ummm, delicious. A word of caution - everything is pretty enormous here, so you might want to puck one thing out at a time. In the space of beverages, there's more than plenty. All kinds of coffee, chocolate, milkshakes, and coolers. Like it hot or cold they have it. So once you've ordered and payed for it, you've got to carry it back to your table, dont expect any waitressing, the motto is self service. You can sit here as long as you want, nursing a coffe and they wont tell you to leave (probably the reason for the crowd), so its a good place to spill your guts to someone (plus the din will prevent your voice from carrying and you wont get amused/shocked stares) The prices. I have issues. Fifty five bucks for a tiny tiny expresso? It's COFFEE. It's not like they went to Italy to get it! Everything else is also quite outrageously priced. College people might want to refill wallets before venturing.
